Accessibility Audit Certifies All 32 Stations Disability-Friendly
An independent accessibility audit certifies all 32 Surat Metro stations as fully accessible, with tactile paths, Braille signage, audio announcements, and operational lifts at every location.
An independent accessibility audit by the National Centre for Accessible Environments (NCAE) has certified all 32 Surat Metro Phase 1 stations as fully accessible to persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and passengers with prams or heavy luggage.
Verified features include tactile flooring paths from station entry gates to platform edges, Braille signage at fare gates and lifts, multilingual audio announcements every 2 minutes, auditory beeping at platform screen door openings, operational lifts connecting street, concourse, and platform levels, and dedicated wheelchair spaces in every train coach.
All station staff will complete disability sensitisation training before commercial launch. Persons with Disabilities will receive a 50% concession on all pass types, and SMRL is targeting the 'Divyang-Friendly' certification from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
